How to complete your thesis?

Bismillahirahmannirahim..

If you are a master holder like me before (refer to list below):

• A part time master student
• working in the same time as some part time master student prefer jobless
• the only thing that hold you down from graduation is the complete your thesis/research

Yay! we are gang! 

This is my experience where I almost gave up and deep in my heart said that who cares I did not get my master. Hold on! I already spent so much on my master for 1 and a half year doing nothing (left only thesis) and pay the fee for doing nothing. Hurm... I was left nothing to say and I really determined that I need to complete my thesis as the same year I was getting married and I do not want this thing get my way. There was another problem that time which was my supervisor was the type hard to get. But I always hold this quote which is --- do not give reason if you want to achieve success!

What I do?

That time was only semester break, I have 6 months to go to complete my thesis till viva, so I make a plan. Luckily that when semester break I am still able to meet my supervisor to getting advised and submit every chapter of thesis, thanks for technology we communicate through email during the semester break. The plan was like critical path method, I am working that time remember and I really need to achieve target. I planned how long should I take to complete every chapter. That was my deadline, if I could not complete by time, means the next chapter will be shorter. Indeed it really works that I am able to complete my thesis even though most of the deadline could not be met. But the most important thing was I managed to complete it with my supervisor help, he was getting frustrated and hope I can complete my thesis as maybe the next semester he would not want to supervise me any more. He borrowed me his previous student thesis, he tried to meet me and he always say to me I really hope you can complete it this time. Yay, Alhamdulillah I get my master.

What other tips I can share was, one of my ex classmate giving me a very good advise which she also get it somewhere, pleas write everyday, does not matter you make your title page, or chapter page anything that someday you will be very grateful your small effort. Yes indeed I am very grateful for that.

Other tip was, remember I told you that I was getting married the same year where I need to complete my thesis. Wherever I getting bored I will surfing the internet and looking for my wedding idea and what happened was it will took longer that it should be, and everytime that happened I gave my self a time period for me to freshen up to google material for literature review and another reminder that, I will not do any physical preparation until my thesis is done. I am not lying to you as this is what happened till I submit my thesis for viva and the rest wait for correction and hardcopy.

What you should not do is, and it is happened with me the semester before where I pledge myself that I need to complete my thesis on weekends as I am really tired working on weekdays. Hey! It did not work as weekend is the most tiring and I always went out for dating and always very late coming home. And sometimes when I am doing literature review, always bores me and can you imagine that how much time I waste if I keep on hold because my head was getting bored and jam. My girl friend did use this idea where she told me, I would want to went to your house to get my thesis done as I think I would not be able to do it at my own home. What happened was, every weekend she always has planned, and she did not came to my house eventually.

Remember, put your intention first, then planning, and commit with it. Another thing is, if it does not goes as what you plan, do not give up and getting frustrated. Just commit it and get your track back, insyaAllah you will get it done.
